The children loved being out in the wind – they used sticks to make kites – but found out the sticks made them too heavy to fly so they took the sticks out and the kites flew!
They also collected sticks for the fire – they measured them against their fingers to make sure they were the right size to make the fire.

The children have been out and about this week. They went on a long walk down the lane noticing the changes that are happening as we move into spring – at last the daffodils we have been watching are flowering
We have some baby trees – called saplings donated by The Forest of Mercia. As the weather was warmer we have planted them today.
We noticed that the wind had blown down quite a few sticks from the trees so we carried them very carefully – by dragging them behind us back to camp. We used them to make a fire so we could warm some milk for hot chocolate.
We noticed on the way that our bird feeders were empty – the birds must have been very hungry indeed!

The children shared this fabulous story about a leaf man who is blown on his adventures – they made their own leaf men. I wonder what adventures they have blown away to???
First the children explored moving themselves in the rockers – which was great fun and perfect for developing their vestibular sense for balance, great for developing relationships with another child through shared laughter and joy……
…then when you have really found out what it feels like to move yourself its the perfect time to try out moving other things – how clever to know the best way round to put the cars so that they roll too. Its amazing how children learn!
