Me, my world and my imagination

Learning that the world is bigger than a child’s direct family and home is another important area of learning for young children and forms a crucial aspect of our curriculum.

We do this through embracing and exploring the wonderful natural world around us, learning through sources of information such as books, stories, rhymes, the internet and of course from each other. Mastering how we can learn about things,  have control over materials and test out theories builds up our skills and knowledge which in turn continues to build up our ‘I can do it’

Enjoying being with others

Another crucial part of all early learning is the joy that being with others brings. Knowing how to get along with others, communicate with them, care for each other and learn together are an essential part of our curriculum. Play becomes much more fun when its shared with others who enjoy our company.

Welcoming our children to Windsor – getting the ‘I can do it’ feeling

The children are settling in well and showing us what they know and can do. We are observing, playing alongside and tailoring our curriculum to match them.

We focus our curriculum in 3 ways – learning about myself, myself and others and myself and the world.

We want children to be ‘I can do it’ children so we look at

  • what makes them feel physically competent
  • what helps them feel self confident
  • what helps them to feel independent
  • what helps them to be able to express themselves, their feelings and thoughts using actions and words

because then they get the most out of all that nursery has to offer them.

Look at the children and you will be able to see how they show their ‘I can do it’ attitudes in a range of ways.
