The weather has been beautiful this week – the children have been out and about noticing the signs of Spring – seeing the pussy willow and catkins, listening for the birds and feeding the robins too. Our 1 robin has now found a friend which we are very excited about! Molly the big horse and Bluie the little pony were out and about too.
Garden bird watch
The children have made bird feeders and have been watching which birds have been coming into the garden. They have been making marks to record which one they have seen.
We have seen 1 buzzard, 2 song thrush, 5 blackbirds, 8 sea gulls, 6 pigeons, 5 sparrows, 10 great tits and our special Windsor robin!
BOOK APPEAL
If anyone has any board books or early picture books that they no longer need in good condition please pop them into Windsor. Peppa Pig is a particular favourite of many children
Thanks
Planting wild flowers
The children have been planting wild flowers to encourage bees and other insects to visit Windsor.
Our friendly robin came to visit the cabin – one child pointed out ‘the robin have no hair!
The children noticed how many leaves had fallen and picked them up and tried to put them back on.
The beauty of leaves
The children went out exploring across the field today – so many of the trees are starting to lose their leaves – they loved rolling in them and collecting different ones to make crowns
Collecting sticks
The children love sticks – this week they have collected some to use to make bug houses. They had to find sticks that were the same length as their fingers. They also went back to the sunflower head. Lots of the seeds have been eaten. Look who was there when the children arrived!
Nature is absolutely fascinating
Look how interested the children are in the wonder of nature – outdoors provides the richest real learning environment
WINDSOR OUTDOORS!
Visitors are always amazed at the outdoors at Windsor – we describe it as the best kept secret in Parkfields.
Here are just a few photographs to give you a little glimpse into why children love the outdoors so much and how much learning happens day in day out ….. naturally!
